Information note on women’s food security reserves.

Female food security reserves are based on the experience of the lean season cereal banks which were part of a project to promote local initiatives in Aguié (PPILDA) that helped to strengthen the food security of households for 1-2 months and reduce by 50% the time spent on agricultural wage labor during the lean season. The loan recovery rate ranged from 70-90%. The aim of this initiative was to set up an operational and sustainable prevention and food insecurity management system through the reserve, placing the management of the inventory and its sustainability under the responsibility of women.
